Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim

The Karachi Port handled 71,018 tonnes of cargo comprising 33,718 tonnes of import cargo and 37,300 tonnes of export cargo including 2,584 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargos of 33,718 tonnes comprised of 19,218 tonnes of containerised cargo and 14,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 37,300 tonnes comprised of 15,111 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,464 tonnes of bulk cargo and 18,725 tonnes of clinkers.
As many as 2,584 containers comprising of 1,821 containers of import and 763 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 368 of 20's and 625 40's loaded while 199 of 20's and 02 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 452 of 20's and 144 of 40's loaded containers while 11 of 20's and 06 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely Ever Deluxe, Manet and Amber-L carrying containers and DAP respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were three vessels viz. Ningbo Express, Cosco Rotterdam and Fairchem Steed carrying containers and oil tanker respectively currently at the berths.
There are three ships namely Ningbo Express, KN Forest and Xin Rui Hai carrying containers, talcum powder and clinkers respectively expected to sail on Tuesday while another ship namely Szcazecin Trader carrying containers is expected to sail on Wednesday.
There is one vessel viz. MT Shalamar carrying oil tanker due to arrive on Tuesday while three more vessels viz. Hyundai Faith, Diavolezza and celsius Messina carrying containers, canola and chemical respectively are expected to arrive on Wednesday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 149,520 tonnes comprising of 125,390 tonnes of import cargo and 24,130 tonnes of export cargo including 4,742 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargo of 125,390 tonnes includes 46,100 tonnes of coal; 2,440 tonnes of palm kernel; 9,500 tonnes of soyabean; 1,800 tonnes of chemical and 65,550 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 24,130 tonnes includes 24,130 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 4,742 containers comprising of 3,450 containers import and 1,292 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
There was one ship namely Medi Manila carrying coal sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while two more ships namely Aga Mamnon and MSC Noa carrying containers are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean, chemical, LNG and palm kernel respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as nine vessels viz. OOCL Atlanta, BW Kobe, Klara Oldendroff, Gas Amazon, Tomson Gas, Wil Force, Eco, Asia Inspire and Horizon carrying containers, soyabean, canola, LPG, LNG, pet cock and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four ships viz. APL New York, Maersk Detroit, Tomson Gas and Asia Inspire carrying containers, LPG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday. There are three ships namely APL New York, Maersk Detroit and MOL Generosity carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday.
