4,500 MW power shortfall recorded

ISLAMABAD: The electricity shortfall in the country on Sunday remained 4,500 MW forcing Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) to observe 10 to 16 hours power load-shedding in urban and rural areas respectively.

According to report on daily power generation and load-management position the power demand has surged to 16,593 MW against the total generation of 12,093 MW during the last 24 hours.

The hydel generation stood at 3,973 MW, WAPDA thermal 1,735 MW and IPPs 6,385 MW.

As many as 680 MW was supplied to Karachi Electric Supply Company(KESC), the report further said.
