The Karachi Port handled 164,672 tonnes of cargo comprising 91,773 tonnes of import cargo and 72,899 tonnes of export cargo including 6,900 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.
The total import cargos of 91,773 tonnes comprised of 56,076 tonnes of containerised cargo; 22,073 tonnes of bulk cargo and 13,624 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. The total export cargos of 72,899 tonnes comprised of 42,842 tonnes of containerised cargo; 100 tonnes of bulk cargo; 29,957 tonnes of clinker and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 6,900 containers comprising of 2,414 containers of import and 4,486 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. The breakup of imported containers shows 567 of 20's and 633 of 40's loaded while 01 of 20's and 290 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 456 of 20's and 370 of 40's loaded containers while 372 of 20's and 1,459 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely Northern Dedication, Smiley Lady, Cosco Taicang, Cosco Pacific, CSC Coral and Sarwar Jahan carrying containers, tanker and clinker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eight vessels viz. Cosco Pacific, CL Sophie, Diyala, Horizon, Oriental Rose, Dubai Crown, Mandarin Eagle and Heilan Brother carrying containers, tankers, clinker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There are five ships namely CL Sophie, Diyala, Kota Kaya, Oriental Rose and Heilan Brother carrying containers, chemical and general cargo respectively expected to sail on Monday. There are three vessels viz. Hyundai Vancouver, Botany Bay and MTM Hamburg carrying containers and tanker respectively due to arrive on Monday while nine more vessels viz. JPO Taurus, Kabul, OOCL Chicago, Diaporos, Fairchem Copper, Cembay, Sun Globe and Yangtze Alpha carrying containers, chemical, cement, mogas, steel and general cargo respectively are expected to arrive on Tuesday.
The total import cargo of 103,438 tonnes includes 33,963 tonnes of coal; 10,140 tonnes of diesel oil; 4,200 tonnes of palm oil; 1,713 tonnes of palm kernel; 28,600 tonnes of pet coke; 2,460 tonnes of LNG; 1,650 tonnes of LPG and 22,420 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 18,753 tonnes includes 18,753 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,167 containers comprising of 1,180 containers import and 987 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There were four ships namely AS Paola, Ras Ghumayas-1, Lusail and Alcy One-1 carrying containers, coal, LNG and diesel oil and palm kernel respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning.
A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, steel coil, cement, coal, soyabean, pet coke, LPG, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as fifteen vessels viz. Cosco Pacific, ER Tianshan, Kang Que Ong, Star Omicron, Unity Force, Nord Yucatan, Sprule-2, The Odosia, Jal Upasan, Stena Imprimis, NH Singapore, Mega-1, Tiger Harmony, FCL London and Horizon carrying containers, general cargo, coal, mogas, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four ships viz. Cosco Pacific, ER Tianshan, Star Omicron and Sprule-2 carrying containers, coal and mogas respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Monday. There are two ships namely MSC Tomoko and Maersk Chicago carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
