The Karachi Port handled 149,092 tonnes of cargo comprising 87,544 tonnes of import cargo and 61,548 tonnes of export cargo including 4,379 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.

The total import cargos of 87,544 tonnes comprised of 44,383 tonnes of containerised cargo and 43,161 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 61,548 tonnes comprised of 31,613 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,250 tonnes of bulk cargo; 28,685 tonnes of clinker and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 4,379 containers comprising of 2,613 containers of import and 1,766 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,074 of 20's and 621 of 40's loaded while 11 of 20's and 143 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 593 of 20's and 223 of 40's loaded containers while 363 of 20's and 182 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were six ships namely Northern Dexterity, Thor Sky, MT Shalamar, Al Mahboobah, Grace and Jin Zhou Hai carrying containers, tanker, chemical, clinker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were eight vessels viz. Hyundai Splendor, Thor Sky, Ulanga, Dolphin-II, Manet, Stolt Ebony, Delia-1 and Ashico Victoria carrying containers, tankers and clinker respectively currently at the berths. There are three ships namely Ulanga, Dolphin-II and Delia-1 carrying containers and tanker expected to sail on Monday, while another ship namely BW Amazon carrying mogas is expected to sail on Tuesday.

There are five vessels viz. Seamax Ddarien, X-Press Annapurna, Songa Opal, CSC Coral and Sarwar Jahan carrying containers, tanker, mogas and clinker respectively due to arrive on Monday, while three more vessels viz. Cosco Hong Kong, Coral Star and Wieland carrying containers are expected to arrive on Tuesday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 95,740 tonnes comprising of 71,701 tonnes of import cargo and 24,039 tonnes of export cargo including 1,163 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The total import cargo of 71,701 tonnes includes 22,000 tonnes of coal; 7,426 tonnes of mogas; 15,300 tonnes of palm oil; 2,868 tonnes of palm kernel; 2,200 tonnes of chemical; 18,981 tonnes of LNG and 2,926 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 24,039 tonnes includes 4,868 tonnes of talcum powder and 19,171 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 1,163 containers comprising of 154 containers import and 1,009 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

There was one ship namely As Patricia carrying containers sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while two more ships namely Malhari and Melati-II carrying chemical and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, talcum powder, coal, soyabean, LNG, mogas, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as eighteen vessels viz. SM Vancover, MSC Antonella, BBC Rushmore, Da Cui Yun, Silver Muna, Africal Keto, Sprule-2, Gas Zues, The Odosia, Wembley, Al-Soor-II, JM Upasan, Alcy One-T, Songa Opal, Tiger Glory, Mega-1, FCL London and Horizon carrying containers, general cargo, vegetable oil, cement, chemical, LPG, mogas, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six ships viz. MSC Antonella, SM Vancouver, Tiger Jilin, Day Tui Yun, Gas Zues and Silver Munna carrying containers, project cargo, coal, LPG and vegetable oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday.

There was one ship namely Tiger Jilin carrying containers due to arrive on Monday.

There are two ships namely CSAV Tyndall and Maersk Seletar carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday, while two more ships namely MOL Globe and RW Tulin carrying containers and LNG respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.
