The Karachi Port handled 132,623 tonnes of cargo comprising 65,260 tonnes of import cargo and 67,363 tonnes of export cargo including 3,933 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.
The total import cargos of 65,260 tonnes comprised of 18,635 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,394 tonnes of bulk cargo and 45,231 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 67,363 tonnes comprised of 39,213 tonnes of containerised cargo; 609 tonnes of bulk cargo; 24,455 tonnes of clinker; 3,086 tonnes of talcum lumps and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 3,933 containers comprising of 1,184 containers of import and 2,749 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 448 of 20's and 362 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 06 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,062 of 20's and 713 of 40's loaded containers while 09 of 20's and 126 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were seven ships namely Edison, Liana, MT Khairpur, Sea Charming, ES Mercury, Bao Grand and Liberty Peace carrying containers, tankers, talcum powder, clinker and vehicle respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were seven vessels viz. MT Shalamar, BW Amazon, Sea Charming, Grace, Jin Zhou Hai, Liberty Peace and Development Way carrying tankers, clinker, vehicle and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There is one ship namely MOL Generosity carrying containers expected to sail on Friday.
There are five vessels viz. Northern Dexterity, MTM Humburg, Delia-1, Yefeng-6 and Ashico Victoria carrying containers, tankers, chemical and clinker respectively due to arrive on Friday while three more vessels viz. Hyundai Splendor, Thor Sky and Ulanga carrying containers are expected to arrive on Saturday.
The total export cargo of 34,425 tonnes includes 8,091 tonnes of talcum powder and 26,334 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 5,262 containers comprising of 3,876 containers import and 1,386 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There is one ship namely Akour-II carrying coal sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while two more ships namely Gas Amazon and Sauger carrying LPG and mogas respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of twelve ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, talcum powder, coal, soyabean, LPG, mogas, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as twelve vessels viz. BBC Rushmore, Da Cui Yun, Silver Muna, Nord Kanman, Theodosm, Wembley, Al-Soor-II, Al-Salam-II, Alcy One-T, Songa Opal, Tiger Glory and Melati-3 carrying general cargo, coal, vegetable oil, mogas, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were two ships viz. Nord Kanman and Al-Salam-II carrying coal and diesel oil respectively expected to take berths at Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.
There are three ships namely GSL Manet, Aspatricia and Maran Gas Spark carrying containers and LNG respectively due to arrive on Saturday.
