The Karachi Port handled 192,341 tonnes of cargo comprising 91,347 tonnes of import cargo and 100,994 tonnes of export cargo including 2,701 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.
The total import cargos of 91,347 tonnes comprised of 29,691 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,881 tonnes of bulk cargo; 525 tonnes of petcock and 59,250 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 100,994 tonnes comprised of 57,344 tonnes of containerised cargo; 230 tonnes of bulk cargo; 40,320 tonnes of clinker; 2,100 tonnes of talcum powder and 1,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 2,701 containers comprising of 1,088 containers of import and 1,613 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 143 of 20's and 292 of 40's loaded while 05 of 20's and 178 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 365 of 20's and 291 of 40's loaded containers while 388 of 20's and 139 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were eleven ships namely MOL Grandeur, Cosco Malaysia, Polo, Nordspring, Sky Ploeg, Saehan Harmonia, SM Osprey, Belfort, Bao Glory, Amber Beverly and Hai Yang Da Zhi Jiu Hao carrying containers, tankers, coke and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were nine vessels viz. CSCL Sydney, Diyala, Liana, TRF Miami, MT Karachi, Saehan Harmonia, Bao Grand, ES Mercury and Grand Aurora carrying containers, tankers, clinker, talcum powder and car carrier respectively currently at the berths.
There is one ship namely Diyala carrying containers expected to sail on Monday.
There are two vessels viz. Berlin Express and Botany Bay carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Monday while two more vessels viz. Sea Ring and Voilet Ace carrying jet oil and vehicle respectively are expected to arrive on Tuesday.
The total export cargo of 35,777 tonnes includes 35,777 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,768 containers comprising of 1,885 containers import and 1,883 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There were two ships namely Safmarine Nyassa and GSL Eleni carrying containers sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while another ship namely Smart Lisa carrying steel coil is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, project cargo, coal, soyabean, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as twelve vessels viz. Da Cui Yun, Silver Muna, Akour-II, African Lion, Clipper Eos, Lusail, Sauger, Al-Salam-II, Ocean Flower, Tiger Glory, Melati-3 and Asia Liberty carrying general cargo, coal, talcum powder, chemical, LNG, mogas, diesel oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three ships viz. MSC Busan, Lusail and Ocean Flower carrying containers, LNG and palm kernel respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday.
There is one ship namely MSC Busan carrying containers due to arrive on Monday, while two more ships namely Maersk Kinloss and MSC Antonella carrying containers are due to arrive on Tuesday.
