Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim

The Karachi Port handled 140,367 tonnes of cargo comprising 94,554 tonnes of import cargo and 45,813 tonnes of export cargo including 9,650 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.

The total import cargos of 94,554 tonnes comprised of 60,155 tonnes of containerised cargo; 17,388 tonnes of bulk cargo; 8,500 tonnes of petcock and 8,511 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 45,813 tonnes comprised of 31,013 tonnes of containerised cargo; 10,300 tonnes of clinker and 4,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 9,650 containers comprising of 4,508 containers of import and 5,142 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,145 of 20's and 1,420 of 40's loaded while 379 of 20's and 72 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 611 of 20's and 542 of 40's loaded containers while 1,385 of 20's and 1,031 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely Coral Star, GSL Eleni, Athenian, Al-Salam-II, and Hercules carrying containers, crude oil and meal respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were four vessels viz. MOL Grandeur, JE JU Island, SM Osprey and Amber Beverly carrying containers, tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There are four ships namely MOL Grandeur, JE JU Island, Cosco Rotterdam and SM Osprey carrying containers and tanker respectively expected to sail on Friday.

There are two vessels viz. MT Shalamar and Saehan Harmonia carrying tanker and acetic acid respectively due to arrive on Friday while three more vessels viz. CSCL Sydney, TRF Miami and ES Mercury carrying containers, base oil and talcum powder respectively are expected to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 232,886 tonnes comprising of 196,600 tonnes of import cargo and 36,286 tonnes of export cargo including 4,135 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 196,600 tonnes includes 41,060 tonnes of coal; 17,349 tonnes of diesel oil; 6,689 tonnes of palm oil; 7,664 tonnes of soyabean; 8,004 tonnes of chemical; 62,477 tonnes of LNG; 2,000 tonnes of LPG and 51,357 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 36,286 tonnes includes 9,249 tonnes of cement and 27,037 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 4,135 containers comprising of 2,703 containers import and 1,432 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

There were two ships namely Astakos and Tiger Winter carrying coal and chemical respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while four more ships namely CMA CGM Al-Maviva, Smile Lady, Gulf Mist and Tembak carrying containers, chemical and LNG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of fourteen ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, cement, soyabean, chemical, LNG, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as twelve vessels viz. GSL Eleni, Smart Lisa, Yanze Venus, Serene Amelia, African Tern, Clipper Eos, St. Petri, Sauger, Al-Salam-II, Ocean Flower, Felcon and Asia Liberty carrying containers, steel coil, general cargo, coal, chemical, mogas, diesel oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were three ships viz. GSL Eleni, Smart Lisa and Serene Amelia carrying containers, steel coil and coal respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Pakistan International Bulk Terminal respectively on Friday.

There are two ships namely Dtyala and Safmarine Nyassa carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday, while another ship namely Conti Cortesia carrying containers is due to arrive on Sunday.
