Director of Wuhan Wuchang hospital dies of coronavirus

The director of Wuchang Hospital in Wuhan Liu Zhiming died on Tuesday morning after an all-out rescue effort failed.

Zhiming, 51, was one of the most serious doctors of Wuhan city, the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak in China. "Liu Zhiming, the director of Wuhan Wuchang hospital, died at 10.30am this morning after resuscitation efforts failed," China Central Television’s microblog reported.

Tens of thousands of medical workers in China have been fighting to contain the spread of the 'Wuhan virus'. As of Monday, the Chinese government said a total of 72,436 people are confirmed to have had the deadly disease while 1,868 people have died.

On February 7, Li Wenliang who was an ophthalmologist at a hospital in Wuhan died after testing positive for the nobel coronavirus. Wenliang had publicly revealed that he was one of eight people reprimanded by Wuhan police for spreading rumours about the deadly coronavirus.
