Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim

The Karachi Port handled 273,289 tonnes of cargo comprising 176,725 tonnes of import cargo and 96,564 tonnes of export cargo including 6,050 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.

The Karachi Port handled 273,289 tonnes of cargo comprising 176,725 tonnes of import cargo and 96,564 tonnes of export cargo including 6,050 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.

The total import cargos of 176,725 tonnes comprised of 81,446 tonnes of containerised cargo; 26,242 tonnes of bulk cargo; 910 tonnes of soyabean and 68,127 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 96,564 tonnes comprised of 54,518 tonnes of containerised cargo; 469 tonnes of bulk cargo; 28,327 tonnes of clinker and 13,250 tonnes of mill scale and 000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 6,050 containers comprising of 2,571 containers of import and 3,479 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 991 of 20's and 649 of 40's loaded while 22 of 20's and 130 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 617 of 20's and 340 of 40's loaded containers while 502 of 20's and 840 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were seven ships namely Cosco California, Northern Discovery, Szczecin Trader, Oriental Sakura, Bulk Paraiso, Mandarin River and Bao Flourish carrying containers, tanker, clinkers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were nine vessels Hyundai Loyalty, GSL Mante, Ever Deluxe, CSCL Asia, Ginga Saker, Belfort, Smart Lisa, Ocean Wit and Chipolbrok Star carrying containers, tanker, petcoke and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There are three ships namely GSL Mante, Ever Deluxe and DA Cai Yun carrying containers and scales respectively expected to sail on Monday.

There are two vessels viz. CMA CGM Lamartine and MT Khairpur carrying containers and mogas respectively due to arrive on Monday while three more vessels viz. Clemens Schulte, MSC Marianna and Liana carrying containers and tanker respectively are expected to arrive on Tuesday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 151,277 tonnes comprising of 106,418 tonnes of import cargo and 44,859 tonnes of export cargo including 2,781 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The total import cargo of 106,418 tonnes includes 30,202 tonnes of coal; 2,400 tonnes of palm oil; 16,393 tonnes of gas oil; 16,500 tonnes of soyabean; 32,943 tonnes of LNG and 7,980 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 44,859 tonnes includes 44,859 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 2,781 containers comprising of 420 containers import and 2,361 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

There were two ships namely CMA CGM Litani and BW Rhine carrying containers and gas oil sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while three more ships namely Safmarine Ngami, Yasa Ilhan and Golden Tulip carrying containers. Coal and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of six ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, coal, soyabean and LNG respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as nine vessels viz. Han Xin, Bao Grand, Tyana, St Petri, Georgia-M, Sterling, Navig-8 Stellar, Chemroute Sun and Asia Liberty carrying general cargo, steel coil, soyabean, mogas, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were eight ships viz. MSC Cardoba, MSC Heidi, Maersk Jalan, Han Xin, Jin Hao, Tiger Winter, Georgia-M and Navig-8 Stellar carrying containers, general cargo, coal, chemical, mogas and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday.

There were four ships namely MSC Cardoba, MSC Heidi, Maersk Jalan and Tiger Winter carrying containers and chemical respectively due to arrive on Monday.
