Activities at Karachi and Qasim Ports

The Karachi Port handled 207,705 tonnes of cargo comprising 132,431 tonnes of import cargo and 75,274 tonnes of export cargo including 2,761 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.

The total import cargos of 132,431 tonnes comprised of 83,102 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,683 tonnes of bulk cargo and 47,646 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 75,274 tonnes comprised of 58,399 tonnes of containerised cargo; 16,825 tonnes of clinker and 50 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 2,761 containers comprising of 931 containers of import and 1,830 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 357 of 20's and 252 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 35 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 156 of 20's and 168 of 40's loaded containers while 234 of 20's and 552 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were eight ships namely Northern Dexterrity, Xin Mei Zhou, YM Bamboo, MOL Globe, Chesapeake Bay, Altonia, Peace Worth and V Sanderling carrying containers, tanker and clinker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessels Ever Decent, Telemann, Chesapeake Bay, Liana, KSL Huayang and ZEA Shanghai carrying containers, tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

A cargo volume of 157,976 tonnes comprising 100,824 tonnes of import cargo and 57,152 tonnes of export cargo including 3,517 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The total import cargo of 100,824 tonnes includes 67,300 tonnes of coal; 5,398 tonnes of palm oil; 7,989 tonnes of canola; 4,986 tonnes of chemical; 4,924 tonnes of steel coil; 556 tonnes of project cargo and 9,671 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 57,152 tonnes includes 57,152 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,517 containers comprising of 509 containers import and 3,008 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

There were three ships namely Maersk Jalan, GSL Manet and Sakizaya Integrity carrying containers and canola respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while three more ships namely CMA CGM Moliere, Rabea and Zagori carrying containers, steel coil and coal respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, steel coil, coal, canola seeds and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as eight vessels viz. Smiley Lady, Intuition, Ocean Venus, BW Rhine, CSC Cyanele, St. Jean, Bei Hai and JS Fablous carrying containers, soyabean, coal, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six ships viz. APL New York, Smiley Lady, Anasa, Intuition, Pacific Advance and Brono carrying containers, general cargo, coal, soyabean and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Grains and Fertilizer Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Monday.

There were three ships namely APL New York, Anasa and Brono carrying containers, general cargo and LNG respectively due to arrive on Monday, while another ship namely Maersk Denver carrying containers is due to arrive on Tuesday.
