KARACHI: Brisk shipping was observed at the Port Qasim where five ships carrying containers, 34,022 tonnes fertilizer and 12,000 tonnes palm oil were allotted berths at Qasim International Container terminal, Grain and Fertilizer Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
Meanwhile another chemicals carrier also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.
Berth occupancy remained at the Port Qasim at 43 percent on Tuesday where seven ships namely C.V MSC Sena, C.V Hanjin Malta, C.V Maersk Kolkata, M.V Indian Fortune, M.V Arrilah-I, M.T Norgas Patricia and M.T Bunchin are currently occupying berths to load/offload container, wheat, fertilizer, chemicals and palm oil respectively during last 24 hours.
A cargo volume of 71,325 tonnes, comprises 46,417 tonnes imparts and 24,908 tonnes exports, inclusive containerized cargo carried in 2,707 containers (TEUs) was handled at the Port Qasim during last 24 hours.
Two ships C.V MSC Sena and M.T Norgas Patricia sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while three more ship C.V Hanjin Malta, C.V Maersk Kolkata and M.T Runchin are expected to sail on same day afternoon.
M.V Millennium Park carrying 19,019 tonnes Phosphoric Acid is expected to take berth at Engro Vopak Terminal on Wednesday.
Container Vessel CMA CGM Verdi is due to arrive at Port Qasim on same day, while two more ships Belgica and New Delhi Express are due to arrive on Thursday.
