Lahore civil court has dismissed the petition filed by a woman to stop the release of ‘Mere Pass Tum Ho’ last episode.
According to local media reports, during Friday’s hearing, advocates, on behalf of the drama’s production team and the television channel, argued that the drama was made to discourage honour killings and for the reformation of society.
The petitioner’s counsel stated that women as a whole had been ridiculed and shown as a disrespected segment of society in the drama. The counsel argued before the court that the Constitution did not allow character assassination of any segment of society.
After hearing all the arguments, the civil court judge Naila Ayub said that since all the episodes have been aired and censor board has also issued to clearance to the last episode of popular Pakistani drama, the last episode will go on-air as per the schedule.
In conclusion, the judge has dismissed the petition filed by Maham Jamshed.
The last episode of Humayon Saeed’s drama will be aired tonight, January 25. It will be also screened in selective cinema screens of Pakistan.
