Workshop on social media news held at SU

"We live in an era where information and misinformation closely compete one another on print media, electronic media and social media; mounting tremendous pressure on users to double-check the veracity of the news before further dissemination."

Sindh University's Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat said this in his address as event president at one-day workshop on "Social Media News-Gathering Workshop: Ethical Reporting of Sexual Violence and Exploitation on Social Media" organized by Bureau of Students Tutorial Guidance/Counselling Services and Co-curricular Activities in collaboration with Global Neighborhood for Media Innovation (GNMI) and US Consulate General, Karachi at Senate Hall of the Vice Chancellor Secretariat.

Noted media person Masood Raza and GNMI president Najia Ashar imparted training to SU students; majority of whom hailed from the Department of Media and Communication Studies of university.

Director STAGS Dr Sumera Umrani and Chairman Department of Media and Communication Studies Dr Bashir Ahmed Memon also spoke on the occasion.
