CBOT wheat firmer on brisk global demand

Published Updated

Chicago Board of Trade wheat futures ended firmer on Thursday as brisk global demand continued to support prices a day after the most-active contract set a 1-1/2 year high, analysts said.

Traders remain worried that transport disruptions in France, a drought-hit harvest in Australia and proposals to cap grain exports from Russia will tighten global supplies.

The International Grains Council trimmed its forecast for global 2019/20 wheat production by 1 million tonnes to 761 million tonnes.
