‘Joker’ actor Joaquin Phoenix was arrested along with other climate change protestors during a protest on Friday. Jane Fonda’s ‘Fire Drill Friday protest’ in Washington DC, saw the actor march with hundreds, including stars Martin Sheen, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Susan Sarandon.

According to United States Capitol Police, 147 protesters were arrested in total for the unlawful demonstration. Reportedly, The Golden Globe winner was seen facing off with a group of police near the entry of the Capitol Building, before he was detained for refusing to move on from the area.

Earlier this week, Phoenix also spoke about the climate change issue while accepting his Golden Globe award.

Fonda's weekly series of climate change protests is going out for a while now. Every week since October, a Greta Thunberg-inspired series of events dubbed ‘Fire Drill Fridays’.
