Morocco seeks US durum wheat

Published Updated

Morocco's state grains agency ONICL has issued a tender to import about 354,000 tonnes of US-origin durum wheat under a preferential tariff import quota, European traders said on Friday. The result of the tender will be decided on January 9.

The tender calls for shipments to arrive at Moroccan ports by May 31, traders said. Morocco's government on Dec. 26 approved a decree to suspend customs duty on soft wheat, a different wheat type, from Jan. 2 to April 30 to ensure a regular supply and avert price rises on the domestic market.
