NEW YORK: The dollar trimmed gains against the yen on Thursday after a survey on the US services sector in April came in weaker than expected.

The Institute for Supply Management reported that its non-manufacturing index for April fell to 53.5 from 56.0 the previous month. The April number was also lower than the market's consensus for a reading of 55.5.
