Shipping activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Shipping remained active at the Port where three ships carrying containers, chemicals and palm oil were allotted berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Sunday, April 29. Meanwhile four more ships scheduled to load/offload containers, wheat and rice also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.

Berth occupancy remained at the Port at 38 percent on Sunday where a total of five ships namely C.V Maersk Georgia, M.V Catamarca, M.T Chemroad Wing, M.T Harsandi and M.T Fra Mura are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, palm oil, chemicals and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.

A cargo volume of 66,840 tonnes comprises 49,389 tonnes imports and 17,451 tonnes exports inclusive containerized cargo carried in 1,510 containers (TEUs) was handled at the Port during last 24 hours.

Two ships C.V Maersk Georgia and M.T Chemroad Wing sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while another ship M.T Harsandi is expected to sail on same day afternoon.

Four ships C.V Safmarine Ngami, M.V Maryann Hudson, M.V Unicorn Emerald and M.T Bungo Azalea are expected to take berths at QICT, FAP and LCT respectively on Monday, April 30, while four more ships C.V CMA CGM Ravel, C.V Hanjin Elizabeth, M.T AI-Salam-II and M.T Never land with containers, diesel oil and furnace oil are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Tuesday, May 1 and two container vessels MSC Levina and OOCL San Francisco are due to arrive on Wednesday, May 2.
