Activities at Karachi and Port Qasim
The Karachi Port handled 78,904 tonnes of cargo comprising 54,451 tonnes of import cargo and 24,453 tonnes of export cargo including 4,373 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargos of 54,451 tonnes comprised of 44,619 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,082 tonnes of bulk cargo and 2,750 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 24,453 tonnes comprised of 11,667 tonnes of containerised cargo; 250 tonnes of bulk cargo; 9,336 tonnes of clinkers and 3,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 4,373 containers comprising of 3,463 containers of import and 910 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 775 of 20's and 1,242 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 192 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 356 of 20's and 41 of 40's loaded containers while nil of 20's and 236 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely CMA CGM Rabelais, Al Safa, Ginga Tiger and Oriental Cosmos carrying containers, oil tanker and chemical respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eight vessels viz. YM Bamboo, Smiley Lady, Botany Bay, APL Thailand, Oriental Cosmos, Silver Carolyn, Jia Yue and Panthera J carrying containers, chemical, mogas, clinker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 176,055 tonnes includes 11,709 tonnes of diesel oil; 19,155 tonnes of palm oil; 19,000 tonnes of canola; 33,597 tonnes of coal; 10,500 tonnes of phosphoric acid and 80,256 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 27,117 tonnes includes 17,180 tonnes of cement and 9,937 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 4,747 containers comprising of 4,224 containers import and 523 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There were two ships namely Asia Ruby-1 and Milaha Qatar carrying coal and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while three more ships namely MSC Paola, Leader and Argent Bloom carrying containers, diesel oil and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of twelve ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, canola, coal, cement, chemical, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as seven vessels viz. Adventurer, Kifissos, Yusuf Al-Ghanim, Pacific Legend, Hai Sheng, Genuine Venus and CT Confedence carrying soyabean, coal, diesel oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three ships viz. MOL Generosity, Kifissos and CT Confedence carrying containers, coal and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
There was one ship namely MOL Generosity carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday.
There are three ships namely CMA CGM Al-Maviva, Smiley Lady and Hugo Schulte carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
