Activities at Karachi and Port Qasim

The Karachi Port handled 66,098 tonnes of cargo comprising 50,922 tonnes of import cargo and 15,176 tonnes of export cargo including 4,416 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.

The total import cargos of 50,922 tonnes comprised of 39,722 tonnes of containerised cargo; 02 tonnes of bulk cargo; 4,068 tonnes of palm kernel and 7,130 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 15,176 tonnes comprised of 11,286 tonnes of containerised cargo; 150 tonnes of bulk cargo; 3,740 tonnes of clinker and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 4,416 containers comprising of 3,107 containers of import and 1,309 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 541 of 20's and 1,270 of 40's loaded while 04 of 20's and 11 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 296 of 20's and 312 of 40's loaded containers while 05 of 20's and 192 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were six ships namely Cosco Hong Kong, Seaspan Yangtze, Willet, Al Mahboobah, Gulf Crystal and Minoan Grace carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical, mogas and clinker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were four vessels viz. MOL Grandeur, Xin Beijing, Theodosia and Chemroute Pegasus carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths.

The total import cargo of 166,483 tonnes includes 2,527 tonnes of LPG; 12,500 tonnes of palm oil; 3,071 tonnes of soyabean; 61,306 tonnes of coal; 27,366 tonnes of gas oil; 1,497 tonnes of MEG and 58,216 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 26,999 tonnes includes 26,999 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 4,485 containers comprising of 3,064 containers import and 1,421 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

There were no ships sailed out to sea on Friday.

A total number of eight ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean, coal, LPG, LNG, MEG and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as nine vessels viz. Jeppesen Maersk, Seagull, Jia Yuf, Rowayton Eagle, Adventurer, Adriana Rose, Gas Amazon, Nordic Tristan and SC Neptune carrying containers, coal, soyabean, canola, LPG Mix, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were three ships viz. Seagull, Jia Yuf and Nordic Tristan carrying coal and diesel oil respectively expected to take berths at Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.

There was no ship due to arrive on Friday.
