Activities at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 241,525 tonnes of cargo comprising 130,570 tonnes of import cargo and 110,955 tonnes of export cargo including 2,253 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.

The Karachi Port handled 241,525 tonnes of cargo comprising 130,570 tonnes of import cargo and 110,955 tonnes of export cargo including 2,253 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.

The total import cargos of 130,570 tonnes comprised of 47,080 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,304 tonnes of bulk cargo; 17,012 tonnes of DPA; 5,065 tonnes of palm kernel and 57,109 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 110,955 tonnes comprised of 50,590 tonnes of containerised cargo; 60,365 tonnes of clinker and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 2,253 containers comprising of 1,045 containers import and 1,208 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 208 of 20's and 230 of 40's loaded while 29 of 20's and 174 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 495 of 20's and 150 of 40's loaded containers while 83 of 20's and 165 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were eight ships namely Northern Dexterity, Xin Los Angles, Hyundai Tacoma, Smiley Lady, Liana, Lake Sturgeon, Ikan Parang and Oceanic Wisdom carrying containers, oil tankers, clinker and steel respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessels viz. Dolphin-II, Smiley Lady, Cape Male, MT Karachi, Hankuk and Minoan Grace carrying containers, oil tankers and clinker respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 116,691 tonnes comprising 68,602 tonnes of import cargo and 48,089 tonnes of export cargo including 2,972 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The total import cargo of 68,602 tonnes includes 4,499 tonnes of palm oil; 2,224 tonnes of palm kernel; 8,000 tonnes of soyabean; 40,500 tonnes of coal; 5,000 tonnes of mogas and 8,379 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 48,089 tonnes includes 48,089 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 2,972 containers comprising of 441 containers import and 2,531 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

There was one ship namely Smiley Lady carrying containers sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while four more ships namely Happy Helena, Cosco Japan, SBI Ursa and NCC Qamar carrying containers, coal and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of nine ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean, coal, mogas, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as eight vessels viz. MSC Busan, Amis Kalon, IVS Hirona, Atlantigr, Adriana Rose, Lusail, Nordic Adristan and Al-Salam carrying containers, coal, canola, LNG and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were three ships viz. MSC Busan, Amis Kalon and Lusail carrying containers, coal and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Monday.

There are two ships namely APL New York and Maersk Kinloss carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
