Canadian canola futures drop

Published Updated

ICE Canadian canola futures dropped on Friday for a second straight session as technical selling swayed the market in thin overall trading volume.

Crusher buying underpinned canola, a trader said.

Canola has been trading in a tight range, moving until recently in sync with vegetable oils such as palm and soyaoil, a second trader said, adding that this week's Canadian railway strike settlement took some of the pressure off canola.

January canola lost $1.30 to $456.60 per tonne.

March-May canola spread traded 2,156 times.

Chicago soyabean futures fell on growing US-China tensions.

Euronext February rapeseed futures and Malaysian February palm oil futures rose.
