Activities at Karachi and Qasim Ports

The Karachi Port handled 146,016 tonnes of cargo comprising 91,449 tonnes of import cargo and 54,567 tonnes of export cargo including NA loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.

The total import cargos of 91,449 tonnes comprised of 57,320 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,422 tonnes of bulk cargo; 13,657 tonnes of DPA; 6,250 tonnes of soyabean seeds and 9,800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 54,567 tonnes comprised of 46,143 tonnes of containerised cargo; 336 tonnes of bulk cargo; 3,878 tonnes of clinker; 4,210 tonnes of talcum powder and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

There were five ships namely OOCL Chicago, Smiley Lady, APL Le Havre, GSL Eleni and Eastern Begonia carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were three vessels viz. Kota Cabar, Cosco Pacific and Sea King carrying containers and oil tanker respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 135,234 tonnes comprising 100,008 tonnes of import cargo and 35,226 tonnes of export cargo including 3,222 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 100,008 tonnes includes 2,107 tonnes of LPG; 32,679 tonnes of diesel oil; 20,000 tonnes of palm oil; 7,500 tonnes of soyabean; 8,830 tonnes of coal; 2,900 tonnes of chemical and 25,992 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 35,226 tonnes includes 35,226 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,222 containers comprising of 1,368 containers import and 1,854 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

There were two ships namely Aligote and Tiger Selmer carrying oil tanker and chemical respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while three ships namely Smiley Lady, MOL Courage and Tiger Winter carrying containers and chemical respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean, coal, chemical, LPG, LNG, diesel oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as five vessels viz. GSL Elenia, Weihe, Nordic Geneva, Hafnia Arctic and Polaris carrying containers, soyabean, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four ships viz. GSL Elenia, MOL Gateway, Anaya and Hafnia Arctic carrying containers, coal and diesel oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.

There were two ships namely MOL Gateway and Anaya carrying containers and coal respectively due to arrive on Friday, while two more ships namely AS California and Diyala carrying containers are due to arrive on Saturday.
