ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Defence has completed all necessary arrangements to evacuate and airlift stranded Pakistanis in Libya.

On the instruction of Defence Minister, Chaudhary Ahmad Mukhtar, PIA has chalked out a plan to despatch seven flights to airlift Pakistanis from the three Libyan Airports i.e. Tripoli, Sehba and Sirte, said a press release.

The Defence Ministry has conveyed the flights’ schedule to the ambassador at Tripoli to make arrangements for landing and clearance of aeroplanes as well as to indicate the destinations with numbers from where the stranded Pakistanis are to be airlifted.

PIA has also sent a plane to Dalaman Airport in Turkey which has airlifted 195 Pakistanis, and would arrive in Lahore today.

Apart from PIA flights, the Ministry of Defence has also worked out a plan to evacuate Pakistanis by chartered planes on request of various Pakistani embassies in the neighbouring countries, i.e. Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt and Turkey.
