The Karachi Port handled 164,409 tonnes of cargo comprising 68,008 tonnes of import cargo and 96,401 tonnes of export cargo including 2,221 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.
The total import cargos of 68,008 tonnes comprised of 36,482 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,115 tonnes of bulk cargo; 13,382 tonnes of DPA and 17,029 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 96,401 tonnes comprised of 27,207 tonnes of containerised cargo; 42,719 tonnes of clinker; 12,046 tonnes of talcum powder and 14,429 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 2,221 containers comprising of 1,222 containers import and 999 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 260 of 20's and 260 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 221 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 166 of 20's and 163 of 40's loaded containers while 123 of 20's and 192 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely Hyundai Loyalty, Northern Discovery, Al Mahboobah and Liberty Peace carrying containers, chemical and vehicle respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. Ever Deluxe, Cape Male, ASL Fortune, Wikanda Naree and Liberty Peace carrying containers, talcum powder, clinker and vehicle respectively currently at the berths.
The total export cargo of 45,875 tonnes includes 15,000 tonnes of condensate and 30,875 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,164 containers comprising of 1,539 containers import and 1,625 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There was one ship namely Safmarine Ngami carrying containers sailed out to sea at night hours, while another ship namely OOCL Washington carrying containers is expected to sail on Monday.
A total number of seven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean, phosphoric acid, condensate and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as two vessels viz. MSC Heidi and Weihe carrying containers and soyabean respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There was one ship viz. MSC Heidi carrying containers expected to take berth at Qasim International Containers Terminal on Monday. There are three ships namely APL Savannah, Maersk Sentosa and Fraiha carrying containers and LNG respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.
