KARACHI: Shipping activity remained brisk at the Port where four ships carrying containers, chemicals, furnace oil and palm oil were allotted berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively during last 24 hours.
Meanwhile five more ships scheduled to load/offload containers, steel coils, chemicals, phosphoric acid and palm oil also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the same period.
Berth occupancy remained at the Port at 46 percent on Sunday where a total of six ships namely C.V Maersk Montana, M.V Mercy Wisdom, M.V Elicia, M.T Fair Chem Yuka, M.T Bunga Angsana and M.T Four Island are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, wheat, cement, chemicals, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during last 24 hours.
A cargo volume of 63,456 tonnes, comprises 49,092 tonnes imports and 14,364 tonnes exports, inclusive containerized cargo carried in 1,610 containers (TEUs) was handled at the Port during last 24 hours.
C.V Maersk Montana sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while another ship M.T Fair Chem Yuka is expected to sail on same day afternoon.
Four ships C.V Safmarine Ngami, C.V Bux Hill, C.V ER Canberra and Hawk are expected to take berths at container Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Monday, April 23, while three more ships C.V MSC Jenny, C.V Sealand Michigan and C.V CMA CGM Bellini carrying containers are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Tuesday, April 24. Oil tanker Lahore carrying 70,000 tonnes furnace oil is due to aarrive on Wednesday, April 25.
