Tokyo rubber falls

Published Updated

Tokyo Commodity Exchange (TOCOM) futures slipped on Friday, snapping a 3-day rally, as investors took profits ahead of the weekend, while weaker Shanghai futures also dented sentiment.

However, they still marked a fifth straight weekly gain.

TOCOM's rubber contract for April delivery finished 1.6 yen lower at 177.3 yen ($1.62) per kg. For the week, it booked a 3% gain.

The most-active rubber contract on the Shanghai futures exchange for January delivery slid 190 yuan to finish at 11,970 yuan ($1,712) per tonne. China's new technically specified rubber (TSR) 20 futures contract was steady at 10,165 yuan per tonne. Rubber inventories in warehouses monitored by the Shanghai Futures Exchange rose 0.3% from last Friday, the exchange said on Friday.

The front-month rubber contract on Singapore's SICOM exchange for December delivery last traded at 135.2 US cents per kg, down 0.4%.
