ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Special Committee on PIA Affairs has directed the authorities of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to finalize the report on Hajj flights of PIA for submission before the house.
The NA body met here under the chairmanship of Syed Sumsam Ali Shah Bukhari. Members of the committee Nausheen Saeed, Muhammad Jadam Mangrio, Sheikh Salahuddin and Secretary Committee, Amir Omer Malik, Managing Director PIA, Air Chief Marshall (R) Rao Qamar Suleman, Director General CAA, Nadeem Yousufzai, Director CAA, Captain Hamid Gardezi and senior officials of the airline attended the meeting, said a press release received here on Wednesday.
The committee discussed the services provided by PIA, problems faced by PIA passengers and causes of flight delays. The Committee was also briefed on PIA fleet including purchase of Boeing 777s.
The Committee expressed its satisfaction over the briefing.
Managing Director PIA, Air Chief Marshall (R) Rao Qamar Suleman briefed the Committee on PIA Affairs, flight schedules, maintenance of PIA aircraft, facilities provided by PIA to passengers including the discounts offered.
The Committee members felicitated Rao Qamar on his appointment as Managing Director PIA and extended full support in bringing about improvement in the National Flag Carrier.
Syed Sumsam Ali Shah Bukhari and the members made probing queries and made valuable suggestions for the improvement of the airline.
The Committee also invited three PIA frequent flyers, present at the meeting for exchanging views with them regarding their traveling experiences with the National Flag Carrier.
The invitees while sharing their travel experiences suggested speedy passenger boarding at the check-in counters and on board facilitation.
DG CAA, Nadeem Khan Yousfzai made a detailed presentation on up gradation, improvement of services, landing facilities of aircraft, Bird repellant Radars to make aircraft take offs and landings safe from bird hits and regarding creation of entertainment facilities for the travelling public at the all airports in Pakistan.
