ISLAMABAD: Minister for Water and Power, Syed Naveed Qamar Tuesday directed the concerned officials to ensure uniform load management across the country, particularly for industrial sector following the recommendations and decisions of the second energy conference.
Presiding over a meeting with the representatives of Punjab Chief Minister to review the progress of implementation on the energy conference recommendations.
Naveed said that implementation on the recommendations of the energy conference has started. A plan of an equitable load shedding in the major cities and industrial sector, keeping in view the daily demand and supply situation is being implemented.
The rest of the recommendations of energy conference announced by the Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani will be finalized after consensus of all four provinces and then fully implemented in order to share the energy crises equally.
As per decision, maximum relief is being passed on to the industrial dedicated feeders which are being provided with un-interrupted supply.
The minister also directed that there should be no forced load shedding for industrial sector and the schedule should be announced in consultation with chambers and trader organizations.
The minister said that all the efforts are being made to enhance the power generation from the existing power plants. Naveed informed that 400MW has been added in the system after getting on additional gas of 76 MMCFD.
The meeting was briefed on the current demand supply situation, reasons for decreased power generation in the last couple of days and measures to increase the generation within the next few days.
Earlier, the representatives of Punjab govt gave a briefing on the current load shedding in the province and expressed their point of views in this regard.
The meeting also discussed implementation on other decisions of energy conference like closure of commercial centers at 8 pm, observance of five working days in the office and new office timings in winter and summer.
The Minister also briefed them on his meeting with KESC, Govt of Sindh and KCCI on implementation of energy conference recommendations and stated that all the stakeholders in Sindh have been taken in to confidence in this regard.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Ministry of Water and Power, Pervez Malik MNA (PMLN), Secretary Energy Punjab, Vice President Faisalabad Chamber and senior officials of the ministry and Punjab government.
