Meeting reviews security arrangements in prisons

KARACHI: Inspector General Police (IGP) Sindh Mushtaq Ahmed Shah Monday chaired a meeting to review security measures at prisons in the province.

The meeting which was attended among others by the Additional IGP Akhter Gorchani and IGP of Prisons Sindh, Ghulam Qadir Thaibo, ordered Jails Superintendents across the province to strengthen security and supervision measures at their respective prisons.

The meeting also formed a committee comprising DIG Prisons and Senior Superintend Police (Karachi East) to review overall security measures at Central and Malir District Jails.

The meeting also formed committees to review security arrangements at other jails in Sindh province and submit their reports about security arrangements with recommendations to remove shortcomings, if any, in this respect.

Mushtaq Shah also directed that the Jails officials should focus on safety controls and emergency management and every staff member of the prisons, from wardens to guards, should discharge their responsibilities for the security with commitment and dedication.
