Shipping activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Brisk shipping was observed at the Port where five ships carrying containers, chemicals and palm oil were allotted berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Sunday, April 15.

Meanwhile two more ships scheduled to load/offload containers and cement also arrived at outer anchorage at Port Qasim during last 24 hours.

Berth occupancy remained at the Port on 54 percent on Sunday where a total of seven ships namely C.V Maersk Wyoming, C.V Buxhill, C.V ACX Lily, M.T Chemroad Echo, M.T Dong A-Tyche, M.T Lahore and M.V Rapallo are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, palm oil, chemicals, furnace oil and canola seeds respectively during last 24 hours.

A cargo volume of 115,216 tonnes, comprises 97,185 tonnes imports and 18,031 tonnes exports, inclusive containerized cargo carried in 2,293 containers (TEUs) was handled at the Port during last 24 hours.

Three Ships C.V Maersk Wyoming, C.V ACX Lily and M.T Lahore sailed out to sea on Monday morning while two more ships C.V Buxhill and M.T Dong A-Tyche are expected to sail on same day afternoon.

Container vessel Safmarine Ngami is expected to take berth at QICT on Monday, April 16, while two more ships C.V Maersk Kingston and C.V Al-Sabahia carrying containers are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Tuesday, 17 April.
