Pakistan cricket captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has admitted that the team needs to work on all spheres of the game, after the side suffered a humiliating series defeat on Monday against the inexperienced Sri Lanka. “I don't think we played good cricket in both games in any of the departments,” said Sarfaraz at the post match presentation. The skipper said they would be working on developing better bowling and fielding strategies. “A couple of key run out chances were missed… If we don't get wickets in the middle overs, it will hurt in the shorter formats.” The skipper also admitted that the batting performance was woeful after Pakistan lost a number of key wickets in the early going. “With the bat, we lost too many wickets in the first 10 overs and from there, it's always a tough ask,” he added. Meanwhile, head coach-cum-chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq termed the series loss an ‘eye-opener.’ “This is a good eye-opener for us. We have deficiencies in every department, in bowling, batting, especially the way we got out in both matches,” he said, during the post match conference. Misbah pointed out that the failure of Babar Azam with the bat was the prime reason behind Pakistan’s batting collapse, after the opening batsman didn’t get the expected start during the series. “What has been our strength mostly - it's been due to Babar Azam's runs and he didn't score in two games and we've been exposed,” he said. With an unassailable 2-0 series lead, Sri Lanka would meet Pakistan in their final outing of the tour on Wednesday, at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore.
