  • Mani says that although PCB currently lacks framework to host World Cup, it can in next 5 years.
  • PCB chairman not happy with ICC  for letting only India, Australia and England host every major event.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ehsan Mani has said that Pakistan is capable of hosting the Champions Trophy or T20 World Cup in coming five years time.

“We don’t have the framework today to have the World Cup alone. We can have a T20 World Cup or the Champions Trophy. I’m sure that in five years time we can have a T20 World Cup or the Champions Trophy,” he said, quoted bdcrictime.com.

The PCB chief expressed his disappointment at the International Cricket Council (ICC), as the body continues to give priority to India, Australia and England over other countries. “It’s extremely unfortunate that the ICC has dispensed every single major event to only three nations – India, Australia and England. We didn’t challenge it when they were doing it because of voracity and lack of knowledge about how things work in international cricket,” said Mani.

Earlier, Mani had said that the board was in talks with the officials of Australian, England, Ireland and New Zealand cricket board and inviting them to assess the conditions in Pakistan.

At the moment, Pakistan is hosting the Sri Lankan cricket team for a three match One Day International and T20I series.
