Tokyo futures hit 1-mth low after US jobs data

TOKYO: Key TOCOM rubber futures fell to a one-month low early on Monday after a disappointing US jobs report sent oil and commodities lower and the yen bouncing to a four-week high, though the key contract found decent support at 320 yen.

FUNDAMENTALS

* The key Tokyo Commodity Exchange rubber contract for September delivery was changing hands down 3.9 yen, or 1.2 percent, at 322.1 yen per kg as of 0025GMT.

* US payrolls grew by 120,000 in March, worse than the forecasted gain of 203,000 jobs. The unemployment rate dipped to 8.2 percent, down from 8.3 percent in February.

MARKET NEWS

* The dollar hit a four-week low against the yen at 81.23 early on Monday, while the broad Topix Japan share index fell 0.8 percent to 825.71.

* Crude oil futures fell more than $1 in early Asian trade on Monday, reversing most of the gains made on Thursday.
