Amidst rising tension between Pakistan and India, Indian singer/composer Salim Merchant has praised Pakistani singer Shafqat Amanat Ali for one of his old Bollywood song 'Ye Haunsla'.

A local Indian singer Shadaj godkhindi has recreated an instrumental version of ‘Ye Haunsla’ from the movie ‘Dor (2005)’. The song has been sung by Shafqat Amanat Ali and composed by duo Salim-Sulaiman.

Replying to the Shadaj efforts, Salim praised Pakistani singer for singing one of ‘his favorite’ song. “So beautiful! ‘Ye Haunsla’ is my most favourite composition and I love the way Shafqat Amanat sang it,” he wrote on Twitter.

Shafaqat also replied back to the love came his way from across the border and said, “Thank you Bhaijaan Salim Merchant, this song will always be close to my heart. What a beautiful composition, it’s really your masterpiece”.

On the other hand, Salim has also been accused of stealing a song from Pakistani singer Farhan Saeed. Farhan has claimed that Salim’s latest single ‘Haareya’ has been copied from his song ‘Roiyaan’.

However, Salim has denied all his claims and said that it’s a mere coincidence that the chorus of ‘Haareya’ is like Farhan’s song.
