The newly appointed head coach and chief selector of the Pakistan cricket team Misbah-ul-Haq has signed an agreement with Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) franchise Islamabad United.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has already given permission to Misbah to work in PSL. However, being a coach, Misbah can no longer join the franchise as a player, but can be part of the management or coaching staff. As per reports, Misbah has reached a deal with the franchise, but it is not yet clear what responsibilities he will fulfill.

Under Misbah's leadership, Islamabad United won the first edition of PSL Season. After being associated with the Islamabad United for three years, Misbah went on to serve the Peshawar Zalmi as a player and mentor in the last edition.

Earlier, Misbah defended his decision to be part of the PSL while being involved in the national team as well. “If you are dishonest, then you can do any wrongdoing if you want to, but if we see in a positive way, that getting involved in PSL you can closely watch all players, some are playing with you some are playing against you,” said Misbah,  while talking at the PCB Radio Show.

The PCB announced on Wednesday that former Pakistan captain Misbah has been chosen as Pakistan men’s national team head coach in all three formats as well the national chief selector on a three-year contract.
