A minute of silence was observed before the start of the much-anticipated India-Pakistan ACC Asia Cup U19 2019 match to give respect to legendary leg-spinner Abdul Qadir, who passed away on Friday after suffering a massive heart attack.

The Pakistan U19 team that is present in Sri Lanka was spotted wearing black armbands as a tribute to one of the greatest legspinners of all time.

Condolence poured from all corners on the news of the demise of Qadir, who died of a heart attack in his home town Lahore. Qadir, who would have turned 64 on September 15, was known for his dancing action and was used as an attacking option by Imran Khan during the 70’s and 80s.

Qadir went on to play 67 Tests, taking 236 wickets with a best of 9-65 against England in 1987. These figures are still the best by the Pakistani bowler in a Test innings. He also grabbed 132 wickets in 102 One Day Internationals.
