This was observed by Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, while presiding over a high level meeting of the Sindh Health Department here on Thursday.
The meeting was also attended by Sindh Health Minister, Dr. Sagheer Ahmed, Sindh Finance Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, Chief Secretary Sindh, Raja Muhammad Abbas, Additional Chief Secretary (P&D), Israr Malik, Secretary Health, Muhammad Hashim Raza Zaidi, Secretary Finance, Naveed Kamran Baloch, Secretary to C.M. Sindh, Agha Jan Akhtar and others.
Qaim Ali Shah stated that keeping in view the programme for health care under party manifesto, it has been decided to run existing health institution in a befitting manners together with provision of new health facilities and projects in the province.
He directed that scheme of Trauma Centre for Karachi being established at the cost of Rs. 24 million be completed early so as to provide facilities to the patients.
Chief Minister was informed that out of 14 floors, the work on 12 floors have been completed.
He directed that the projects be completed early for which the work be expedited.
Regarding upgradation project of Taluka Headquarter hospitals as District Headquarter hospitals, the Chief Minister directed that the four hospitals being upgraded be completed early by the end of December 2012 while out of 18 existing District hospitals, the work of Badin, Khairpur, Shikarpur and Mithi be completed by the end of June 2012.
The project is being implemented at the cost of Rs. 2,427 million. It was also informed that the crash programme of vaccination against Hepatitis for school students has been completed at the estimated cost of Rs. 265 million and 4.2 million students have been vaccinated.
Chief Minister Sindh also directed to finalize project of establishment of emergency centre on Super/ National Highways after every 100 kms with ambulance service and medical staff and first aid facilities.
With regard to demands of nurses of the province, it was informed that a package of financial incentives has been finalized.
Qaim Ali Shah directed that similarly, the package for Para- Medial staff be also proposed and joint package be announced to be implemented w.e.f April 1, 2012.
The total package for nursing per year will be for Rs. 490 million while proposed package for para-medical staff may be for Rs. 750 million and in this regard a meeting for package of para-medical staff is scheduled to held within couple of days.
Earlier, Sindh Health Minister, Dr. Sagheer Ahmed, and Sindh Health Secretary, Hashim Raza Zaidi, informed that the total ADP of Health Department is Rs. 6,920 million out of which an amount of Rs. 5,804 million has been allocated for ongoing schemes and Rs. 1,470 million for new schemes.
It was informed that there are 122 schemes under Health sector in Sindh, out of which 64 are ongoing and 58 are new schemes, while the Health Department has been released Rs. 4,087 million out of which Rs. 2,615 million have been spent.
It was further informed that seven Thalassemia schemes are being completed at the cost of Rs. 168 million, Burns Centers are being established at Liaquat University for Health and Medical Sciences Jamshoro, Chandka Medical University Larkana, Sukkur and other places, being completed up to June 2012. Besides, Cardiac Care Centre, Cancer Centres, Urology Centers are also being established in the province.
