Pakistan’s all-rounder Imad Wasim, who is a regular feature of the national side in limited overs cricket, says that leading the side would be great as he never runs away from a challenge, however the matter is up to the cricketing board to decide.

“As a young cricketer, I have always wanted to play for Pakistan and being offered captaincy would be an honour for me. However, this is something for the PCB to decide and I would never go to them and ask for this position…... My job is to play cricket and if I am given the responsibility to captain the side, it would be great as I have never backed down from a challenge,” said Imad, quoted PakPasssion.net.

The 30-year-old has previously led the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Karachi Kings in the Twenty20 tournament. The all rounder further said that he is content with being part of Pakistan’s white ball squad and has no intention to pursue Test cricket.

“Test cricket is not something I would like to pursue as part of my career. Due to my history of injuries, I would rather just play white-ball cricket as I do not think I would be able to last the duration of a Test match,” he said.

The all-rounder has seen a striking improvement in cricketing ability especially with the bat which was evident during the recently concluded ICC World Cup 2019. He said that playing limited overs cricket is the ‘best option’ for him, which also gives him the ability to extend career further and serve Pakistan for a longer period of time.
