Security has beefed up for the Indian cricket team, which is currently present in the West Indies, after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) received a hoax message that read ‘Virat Kohli and boys were in danger.’

The development comes after a number of media outlets reported that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has received an anonymous email on Friday (August 16), which stated that the Indian team is under threat of an imminent terror attack. The PCB forwarded the email immediately to the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The Indian cricket team is in the West Indies these days and are currently playing a warm-up game as the Test series against West Indies will start from Thursday.

According to IANS, a senior BCCI board functionary said that while there was a hoax call on the lines, there is no truth to it. Despite that, the Indian team has been given additional security.

"It was a hoax and all things are in order. The Indian team has been provided with an additional pilot vehicle and the Indian High Commission informed the Antigua government on the same just as a precautionary measure," the functionary said.
