Red alert in troubled countries to rescue Pakistanis: Dr. Babar

Speaking in the National Assembly on Tuesday, the minister said the state of being on high-alert would continue until all the countrymen reached home or a safe destination.

Dr. Babar Awan refused to accept mass agitations in Tunisia, Egypt and Libya for regime change as democratic ones, and said those were ‘ghost movements’ being devoid of leadership, policies and results. Such movements in democratic societies could not be allowed, he added.

He said such movements were orchestrated by those having arms and manipulating things behind the curtain with no benefits to the common man. No one knew who led movements in Egypt, Tunisa, and Libya and no one knew as well who was in charge of the affairs of the state, the minister added.

Dr. Babar called for not misconstruing circumstances in these counties where individuals continued to perpetuate their regimes for decades.
