Pakistan’s top order batsman Babar Azam who is in line to become the next captain of Pakistan cricket team, says he is more interested in minting runs for the country then leading the side.

“I've never really thought about captaining Pakistan and have in all honesty only thought about playing for my country. I am not someone who craves being captain and am more interested in scoring runs for Pakistan,” said Azam, quoted PakPassion.net.

However, the top order batsman was of the view that the issue of captaincy is up to the PCB to decide, and even voice his approval for current skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed’s captaincy. “The Board will decide who the captain or captains are and the players of course abide by their choice… In fact I think Sarfaraz Ahmed is fine and is doing a good job at the moment.”

Azm at present is playing at the Vitality Blast 2019, representing the Somerset county club the top order batsman is among the top run getters of the tournament.
