BUCHAREST: Romania sold a planned 750 million lei ($227.68 million) in two-year treasury bonds on Monday, with the average accepted yield at 5.60 percent against 5.99 percent at a previous March 5 tender, central bank data showed.
The finance ministry has sold significantly more debt than planned so far this year as yields have been falling across maturities since late 2011, helped largely by four consecutive interest rate cuts by the central bank and expectations of further easing.
So far this year, Romania has sold 26.9 billion lei in bonds and bills on the domestic market.
Romania aims to sell 4.25 billion lei in leu-denominated debt this month, less than 7.9 billion lei it issued in March.
