Jeremy Hunt and Boris Johnson to face off in live debate today

Contenders for Conservative leadership and the next British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson and Jeremy Hunt, will face off for the first time in a debate on television on Tuesday.

The two rivals have been taking part in hustings across UK and this will be the first time that they will face off in a live television debate. The debate will be hosted by journalist Julie Etchingham in front of studio audience of 200 people.

After making their respective opening statements, Johnson and Hunt will answer viewers’ questions and debate directly with each other.

Ballot papers have been sent to around 160,000 Conservative Party members around the country. The members have already started voting by post. These voters will choose between Johnson and Hunt as Theresa May’s replacement as the party’s next leader and the next prime minister.

The voting will close on July 22 after which the result will be announced on July 23.
