The situation was broke out after the killing of a MQM worker Mansoor Mukhtar in PIB Colony this morning. All the business centers, petrol pumps and shops were immediately closed while the public transport went off the roads out of fear of arson and incidents of firing and burning.
A man was killed in a firing incident in Manzoor Colony. Another was killed in Surjani town while many other injured in firing incident in Safoora Chowrangi and different areas.
Over 20 buses have been set on fire in different areas of the city. A police van and a bus were also set on fire near Liaquat National Hospital, while two buses were burnt in Liaquatabad, another at M A Jinnah road near Radio Pakistan.
Deceased Mansoor Mukhtar’s injured brother also succumbed to injuries in hospital. Home Minister Manzoor Wasan has formed three-member committee to probe MQM activist’s killing. Karachi University has cancelled examinations scheduled for today. New dates would be announced later. MQM has announced mourning over the killing of their party member.
