Ukraine Finance Ministry to offer domestic euro-denominated bonds

26 Mar, 2012

KIEV: Ukraine's Finance Ministry will start issuing domestic bonds denominated in euros, the government said on Monday, adding to dollar bonds introduced last year to make the debt more attractive to investors.

The ministry sells bonds at regular auctions held on Tuesday and Thursday every week as well as additional auctions held on short notice.

It has raised $866.6 million by issuing dollar bonds since December 2011.

Bonds denominated in foreign currencies offer investors protection from a possible hryvnia devaluation and allow the ministry to borrow at lower rates compared to hryvnia instruments.
