Ukraine harvests 1.6mn tonnes of grain so far

KIEV: Farmers from Ukraine's southern and central regions have harvested almost 1.6 million tonnes of grain from the 2019 harvest, the agriculture ministry said on Tuesday.

Farmers have threshed 522,000 hectares and collected 496,000 tonnes of wheat, 1 million tonnes of barley, and 88,000 tonnes of peas as of June 25.

The ministry expects 2019 grain harvest to exceed last year's record crop of 70 million tonnes. It has not reported what the current yield is.
