The festival coincides with the World Puppetry Day on Wednesday, March 21, and aims to strengthen the tradition of hosting folk puppet artists from across the globe by Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop.

The Union International de la Marionnette (worldwide puppetry organisation) observes the day on March 21 every year.

This year, puppeteers from five countries-Norway, Denmark, France, Iran and India-and 12 Pakistani puppeteer groups are participating the festival.

A colourful parade of mascots, horses and camel dances and traditional dances added life to the colourful festival.

A number of traditional puppets from the Museum of Puppetry also attracted the visitors largely comprising students and people related to the art of puppetry. The Museum of puppetry would remain open throughout the event which would conclude on March 25.
