A spokesman of the corporation told APP that the prices of the pulses at USC were lower from Rs.3 to 15 per kg as compared to the prices of the commodities in the open market. "The USC is purchasing the items from the open market and nominal variation of prices were appearing due to the changes of the prices of commodities in the open market", he remarked. The prices of different pulses at USC were still lower as compared with the prices in open market as the gram pulses were available at Rs.107 per kg as against Rs.110 per kg in the open market, he added. The masoor pulses were available at Rs.78 per kg as against its prices of Rs.100 per kg in the open market, where as the moong pulses were sold at Rs.118 in USC as it prices were Rs.140 per kg in open market, he added. The spokesman further said that the prices of sugar, rice and ghee were also lower by Rs.8, 15 and Rs.10 per kg then the prices of these commodities in open market, he added. The USC was striving to provide quality product on controlled rates for the masses on their door steps through its country wide network, he added. The outreach of the corporation would be expended by opening more 2000 stores besides starting lease programme for other households to improve the living standards of the people in the country. He informed that the annual turn over of the corporation has exceeded to the Rs.60 billion which was a hall mark on the quality and trust of the customers on the corporation.
