ICE canola futures fall on wetter Canadian weather, ending streak of gains
WINNIPEG: ICE canola futures fell on Monday, ending a six-day winning streak, under pressure from an outlook for wetter Canadian weather by the weekend.
* The Canadian Prairies have seen dry weather this spring, allowing canola crops to be planted, but raising concerns about germination and development.
* Strength in the Canadian dollar and weakness in soyoil prices also pressured canola, a trader said.
* July canola lost $4.20 to $455.30 per tonne.
* July-November canola spread traded 4,744 times.
* Chicago July soybeans unofficially finished slightly lower, trading on technicals.
* Paris Matif August rapeseed futures edged higher and Malaysian August palm oil futures dropped.
* The Canadian dollar strengthened against its US counterpart on Monday, recovering from a nearly five-month low on Friday when investors worried about potential US tariffs on Mexico.
